Russia! Comicfestival in Saint Petersburg



„Comics wurden vom CIA  erfunden, um junge Menschen in Russland und aller Welt zu verblöden", lautete die Formel, mit der die alte Sowietunion die Verbreitung von Comics verhinderte. Bis heute gibt es in Russland keine Comicverlage, keine Comicläden, keine Comickultur, abgesehen vom Comic-Festival KomMissia in Moskau, veranstaltet von Zeichnern, die zusammen Spass haben wollten.

Voriges Wochenende lief die erste Ausgabe des „Boom-Fest" in St. Petersburg vom Stapel, organisiert von Freunden der avancierten Bilderzählung. Dmitry Iakovlev, Mascha, Illia, Galina usw. luden eine internationale Künstlerriege zu Vorträgen und Workshops in die Räume des Museums von Anna Achmatowa (1899-1966, Dichterin und „Grande Dame" der russischen Literatur).
Eine kleine Ausstellung im Park zeigte Arbeiten von Knut Larsson (Sweden), dessen „Deer Girl" als e-book bei electrocomics downloadbar ist, Marcel Ruijters (Niederlande), Marco Turunen (Fi), Jyrki Heikkinen (Fi), Sacha Goerg und Cedric Manche aus Belgien (www.employe-du-moi.org, grandpapier.org), Jimmy Beaulieu (Canada), Mawil aus Deutschland, meine Wenigkeit und viele andere.
Weil der Festivalplan in Cyrillischer Schrift verfasst war - wie übrigens nahezu sämtliche Informationsmedien in St. Petersburg, ich stand ratlos vor Strassenschildern und Speisekarten - kann ich leider nicht von den beiden grossen Ausstellungen mit Osamu Tezuma und den Mumin-Comics von Tove Jansson berichten, denn ich habe sie nicht gefunden.

In jedem Fall war es ein gelungenes Festival, die Premiere lässt auf eine regelmäßige Fortsetzung hoffen!

Kristiina Kolehmainen from the comic library in stockholm and her friend Britt Marie took me
to a "good restaurant with russian food". It came out, that it was the presumable most expensive
restaurant of saint petersburg, for sure it was the most luxurious, I've ever been to (and I ate with
mafiosi in Italy 20 years ago). This is the toilet.
